Area Guide

In the Keys it is common to reference places using mile markers. They start with 127 in Florida City and end with MILE 0 in Key West. Look for the little green signs on the right of the road. Locations are described as either Oceanside or Bayside. The numbers listed below indicate the Mile Markers.

Florida Keys Wild Bird Sanctuary - 93.6 - Bayside: Wander along a boardwalk through mangrove forest at this wildlife-rehab facility. Free (donation based) Recommend

Casa Mar - 90.7 - Oceanside: Collection of stores, restaurants, paddle-board and kayak rentals, and juice and coffee bar.

Windly Key State Fossil Reef - 85.3 -This is an old quarry where fossilized coral was acquired for use to build the Flagler's Overseas Railroad in the early 1900's. Wander through 8 foot high quarry walls to see ancient coral.

 

Theater Of The Sea - 84.2 - Established in 1946, its the second oldest marine mammal attraction in the world. It's saltwater lagoon was originally a quarry for Flagler's Overseas Railway. A tourist attraction and pricey.

History Of Diving Museum - 82.9 - Compact, unique museum with relics, exhibits & equipment showcasing the evolution of diving.

Florida Keys Brewing Co. - 81.6 - The upper Keys first brewing company, located in the Morada Way Arts and Cultural District. Funky place with a great ambiance, beer garden and tasty beers!

The Hurricane Monument - 81.6 - Constructed after the devastating "The Great Labor Day Hurricane of 1935" Its worth stopping at the monument and considering the impact of this historic storm.

World Wide Sportsman - 81.5 - Part of the Bass Pro Shop empire, offering wealth of fishing tackle, outdoors gear, boating accessories and clothing. On display is a old replica of a wooden Vessel that Ernest Hemingway once owned. There is also an aquarium displaying local fish.

Sea

Most people do not know the Florida Keys are not know for the beaches. We are known for snorkeling, fishing and diving. Getting out on the water is a must! We have crystal clear waters and lots of wildlife underwater to explore. Another way to interact with wildlife is to rent Kayaks or Paddle boards.
